HISTORY
Founded in 1911 as an intentional community to preserve and celebrate traditions of Denmark, Solvang ("Sunny Meadows" in Danish) became a tourist destination in 1947 when the Saturday Evening Post highlighted it as "a spotless Danish village that blooms in the Santa Ynez Valley".
Learn more about the oldest kingdom in the world, including the Viking era, royal visits to Solvang, as well as the Spanish Mission founded in 1804.
